Spectacular Armour in the Abbey is a two day event perfect for all the family. See Medieval Life from the court to the kitchens and demonstarions of the skills of the time.

On Sunday the event is held in the substantial Abbey garden (entrance via Medieval Gate House). There medieval families, will be living in period style, in colourful tents, cooking in iron pots over open fires. Tea, coffee and cake will be on sale in the Gardens.

The medieval people will be demonstrating their skills, with archery displays, hand to hand combat, and much more.

On Monday the event is held in the Abbey. The event includes medieval music, the arming of a knight and robing of a cleric, a knighting ceremony and lightweight armour for trying on. The Duke of Clarence Vault will be open, subject to ground water (the Duke received the manor of Tewkesbury when he married Lady Isabel Neville in 1469).

There are hourly shows. Craftspeople of all kinds will be demonstrating their skills.

You can also visit the sacristy which keeps the Abbey's most valued treasures safe. The massive door strengthend with horse armour picked up from the battle of Tewkesbury field in 1471.
